Founded by industry legend Clarence Avant in the late 1970s the label was the home of early 1980s R&B including the marquee acts S.O.S. Band, Alexander O’Neal and Cherrelle. Technically advanced and sparkling US foul funk, it heralded the arrival of the producers Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis – under their guise as Flyte Tyme Productions. BBC DJ Nicky Campbell joined the Ukuleles on stage as they launched their self-titled debut album. Martha and Logan wre joined by the Radio 5 breakfast DJ @ London’s Musicroom store on Denmark Street. ‘The Ukuleles’ is released on August 27 and features ukulele workings of old and new songs including jessie J’s ‘Price Tag’, Mumford and Sons ‘The Cave’ and the classic ‘Over the Rainbow. Blab Happy were a British indie band from Leicester formed in 1987, comprising Mick McCarthy, Jon Dennis, Tony Owen and Jeremy Clay. After two EPs released on their own Wisdom label won airplay on John Peel's BBC Radio 1 show, and enthusiastic reviews in New Musical Express, Sounds and Melody Maker, they were signed to the Demon label F-Beat, for whom they released 2 albums, 1991's Boat and 1993's Smothered. On the 2nd of December 2011, the first ever Artrocker Awards took place at popular Shoreditch venue, XOYO. The showstopping night, hosted by Radio 1s Jen Long unveiled the winners of fourteen unique nomination categories. Demon’s Edsel imprint had a great night winning the re-issue of the year award for Jesus And Mary Chain’s Psychocandy. We were also delighted to be nominated in the same category for the re-issue of John Foxx + Harold Budd – Nighthawks + Translucent + Drift Music.

Weekender is a new UK film release that tells the tale of two friends who get caught up in the “acid house” explosion and the birth if “rave culture”. Demon Music will be releasing the soundtrack to the film, which has been described as “a perfectly timed trip down the Acid House lane, with a killer club soundtrack”. CD1 features key gems from the soundtrack, and CD2 is inspired by the underground warehouse scene, where many of the most influential tracks came from the US Trax and Warlock record labels, now controlled by Demon Music Group. Finally CD3 features an exclusive mix by Terry Farley (Boy’s Own) which will give you an instant flavour of the warehouse sound that still continues to inspire new dance producers today.

Formed in 1971, the Scottish soul artists Average White Band were the equal of any of their spiritual cousins across the Atlantic, with a stew of horns, popping bass and heartfelt vocals. The compilation “Let’s Go Round Again” features the choicest cuts from the glory years including “You Got It”, “Person to Person”, “Queen of My Soul” and “Pick Up the Pieces”. Still performing to this day, the band’s stock still remains high. This is a grade A funk collection, and it’s a timely reminder of how great soul can come from anywhere in the World. Coming soon on Demon Music Group's Edsel label - the remastered Mike Nesmith recordings. 8 albums originally released on the Pacific Arts label, including the worldwide hit "Rio". On the heels of "Rio's" chart success, Nesmith produced it's filmed accompaniment, and in the process helped set a precedent for modern day music videos. Whilst appearing in Australia, he noted an interest in Top 40 TV shows that played video clips of performing artists. Back in the US, Nesmith put together a 30 minute prototype Top 40 show called "Popclips". Ultimately Nesmith sold both the show and the concept to Warner Amex and "Popclips" was reborn as the behemoth we now know as MTV.
Demon Music Group are proud to announce the release of the remastered Ian Gillan recordings, consisting of his output during the 70s and 80s as the Ian Gillan Band & Gillan. Ian Gillan was a member of Deep Purple from 1969 through 1973, appearing on the classic Deep Purple albums such as Fireball and Machine Head. During these years, he also portrayed Jesus Christ in the original version of Andrew Lloyd Webber's and Tim Rice's Jesus Christ Superstar.After leaving Deep Purple, Gillan formed the Ian Gillan Band, and their initial sound had a distinct jazz-rock aspect, however this evolved into a more high powered hard rock sound as Gillan reformed the lineup and shortened the group's name to Gillan. With the release of Mr. Universe Ian Gillan was back in the UK charts and through several more lineup changes released a string of hit singles and successful albums including Glory Road, Future Shock, Double Trouble, and finally Magic.
