Mike Christie’s new documentary on Suede’s 1996 album Coming Up is confirmed to premiere on Sky Arts, Friday, May 7th, as part of the Classic Albums series.  The  Mercury Prize-nominated album comes under the microscope, as we see members of the band discuss the different elements of the recording – from the energy of Simon Gilbert’s drumming, through to the guitar sound of Richard Oakes, who joined the group as guitarist for the album after Bernard Butler’s departure in 1994.  The band had in mind a  definite sound with the guitars and that’s the sound that Ed [Buller – producer] spent a lot of time getting, – he wanted to create a sonic trademark for that album.  You can listen to the original album on the playlist page https://www.tracklicensing.com/playlist/suede-coming-up/.
